The Ante & Play Bet

The most popular bet on the three card poker table is the Ante & Play bet. This bet can be made alone or in conjunction with the Pair Plus bet. The aim of this bet is to beat the dealers hand with your three card hand. An Ante Bonus can also be won with the right hands.

How to Play the Ante / Play Bet

To make an ante bet you simply place a chip or chips on the Ante betting spot in front of you on the table. If you like your hand you then place a bet equal to your ante on the Play betting spot.

Ante / Play Payoffs

There are a few outcomes that can occur with the Ante / Play bet. If you make the play bet your hand and the dealers hand are compared. If the dealer does not qualify with Queen or higher you get paid even money on the Ante and the Play bet is returned.

If the dealer qualifies with Queen or higher and your hand is better than the dealers you win even money on both bets. If the dealer qualifies and the dealer has a better hand both the Ante and Play bets are lost. In the case of a tie both bets push.

The Ante Bonus

Most games offer an additional way to win with the Ante Bonus. This is a bonus win that is paid if your hand is a straight or higher. The bonus is paid even if the dealers hand is wins. The 5, 4, 1 is considered Full Pay.
